Look out Union, cats are taking over our campus. That’s right. An anonymous group of students are on a mission to capture the rogue cats that have found their way to our backyards and hearts. You can find them on their Instagram page @unioncatfindings. They are essentially National Geographic, but for the local cats of Schenectady! These snapshots are finding their way into student feeds and popular campus spots like Richmond, Reamer, Jackson Gardens, and even the Achilles Center. These furry creatures are everywhere!
Let’s take a look at what the youngsters captured so far.
As of now, they have about nine sightings and counting. October 16, the first tabby cat was witnessed just outside of Richmond. From the looks of it, whoever took the photo must have been real quiet. That very same day, an orange tabby was spotted at night. Was it hungry for lasagna or was it running from its owner? Who knows?
October 20, another tabby cat was spotted at Jackson’s Gardens. Its steadfast nature captures its introvertedness. I personally took a video of the cat and sent it to @unioncatfindings. From the looks of it, I think it wanted to be left alone.
On October 24, a tuxedo cat was spotted around the Achilles center. Its black and white colors exemplify its simple, no nonsense nature. I think it was going for a jog. Similar descriptions of this cat were spotted at Reamer and Viniar Athletic Center. It’s quite possible tuxedo cats appreciate a liberal arts atmosphere!
To find peace between common hour and your next class, check out @unioncatfindings on instagram! The student run page is only accepting photos and videos of cats found on campus.
Cats have a unique way of bringing students solace during the time of midterms, finals and advisor meetings. I hope to see more cat photos before the end of the term!
