On Saturday, May 9, 2026, Union hosted its sixth annual Pridefest. Various student clubs and organizations, as well as outside organizations, all joined together in a celebration of the LGBTQ+ community. Every present club and organization tabled, giving items to attendees or hosting activities. Union’s Japanese Drumming Ensemble (Zakuro-Daiko) performed, followed by speeches from Union President Elizabeth Kiss, Assistant Athletic Director Brianne Brinker, and the Union Pride E-Board. Pridefest was a huge success, and members of the Union community had a great time.
Sophomore Alex Sano said that “Pridefest was fantastic, from hearing President Kiss stand in support of the LGBTQ+ population at Union to seeing hundreds of friends and staff members come together to create a beautiful afternoon of festivities.”
Junior Conor Fryer, a member of WRUC, stated that “Even with the weather forcing a change in venue, it was incredible to see the entire CPH conference space filled with people, tables, and performances. The whole room had a real energy to it, and WRUC was glad to be part of something that brought so many people together.”
It is important to continue events like Pridefest, as these celebrations promote inclusivity, belonging, and acceptance. They are some of the most popular events across campus and allow the Union community to celebrate different identities and come together as a whole.
