WOW: Sarah Damese
Nominated by: Sage Stinson
Nomination: I am nominating Sarah Dames because of her commitment to my organization, Delta Phi Epsilon. Between her active presence in the dance department and dance team, she remains fully committed and on top of all her presidential duties. She also goes above and beyond to make herself open to everyone as a resource all while being a full time student.
What are your proudest accomplishments?
One of my proudest accomplishments is recently becoming elected President of my sorority, Delta Phi
Epsilon. I could not be more proud to represent such a strong, passionate, intelligent, and loving group of women.
What are you passionate about?
My passion for continual growth as an individual continues to excite me for the rest of my time at Union and the various possibilities in the future. There is so much to be discovered and admired in our world and I want to take every opportunity to travel and have new experiences. Being abroad for the fall term has taught me how much I love seeing the world with friends and family. Deepening my perspective on people and our society is something I hope to continue doing for the rest of my entire life.
Who do you look up to?
I’ve always admired my older sister. She is constantly someone who encourages me to view situations
with a different perspective and challenge myself intellectually. The ways in which we differ as individuals are some of the qualities that have made me a stronger person today.
What does being a woman at Union mean to you?
Being a woman at Union means supporting and uplifting the other women around me. It means reminding the Union community that the accomplishments made by myself, and the other women on this campus deserve to be acknowledged and celebrated by the larger community.
How do you think Union can do a better job at supporting women on our campus?
I really value the various community-building dialogues and conversations put on by student groups and offices at Union. I believe having a continuous dialogue regarding the challenges women face at Union could be beneficial to building stronger solidarity amongst women.
