On the mound, Swarts leads the team with a 2.79 ERA, while Jack Klein has added a strong 2.95 ERA and 21 strikeouts.
This series presented an opportunity for Union to make a statement as the season winds down. Bard College entered with a similar 10–14 record and was also looking to build momentum. Bard is led by sophomore outfielder Elias Grosfoguel, who carries a .392 batting average and a 1.115 OPS.
In the first game of the doubleheader, Union defeated Bard 15–11. Freshman outfielder Jack McKilop recorded three hits and scored three runs, while Swarts went a perfect 5-for-5 with three RBIs. Several Union players contributed multiple hits, as the offense powered its way to 15 total runs.
In the second game, Union completed the doubleheader sweep with an 11–1 win. The offense was led by sophomore Michael Del, who went 4-for-5 and scored three runs. On the mound, freshman Alex Casey earned the win, allowing just one earned run and recording three strikeouts. The game was closed out by freshman Evan Byrnes, who allowed only one hit.
The series highlighted Union’s offensive potential. If the lineup continues to produce at this level, the team could build momentum heading into the postseason.
