Near the end of last term, the Union College lost a dear friend and member of the campus community, one who, by all accounts, put a smile on the faces of everyone who had the joy of greeting them upon entering Reamer Dining Hall. It is with a heavy heart that we all must come together and mourn the loss of Upper Dining Hall’s Soft Serve Machine. After years of service to students and faculty alike, our beloved friend fell ill before passing in late last term, surrounded at home by its family and friends. A private burial has already taken place. Flowers and letters of condolence may be left on the machine’s former workstation beside its dear friend, the Hard Ice Cream Cooler. Donations also may be made in lieu of flowers to the Machine’s favorite non-profit organization, The Concordiensis. Cash, check, or livestock will be accepted.
