On Thursday, October 23, Union’s Delta Phi Epsilon hosted their annual Deepher Dude event to raise money for The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. The well anticipated event hosts members from each Union fraternity to participate in a pageant show style event. Events include performing a talent, an outfit reveal, and finally answering questions from the hosts. The night was full of impressive performances, many laughs, and overall support for a great cause.
The night began with the two hosts, Madison Brand ‘27 and Gillian Paseka ‘27, giving insight into what Cystic Fibrosis is and how the fundraising efforts can help find the unfound cure and support those with cystic fibrosis. The judges were also revealed to the audience, which were a combination of the presidents from each sorority and Greek Life directors.
After the brief introductions, the hosts welcomed each fraternity member to the stage to perform their talents. The talents include individual or group singing and a dance routine to ‘Call Me Maybe’ by Carly Rae Jepsen. There are collective claps from the crowds, hollers to support a friend or brother, and occasionally some laughs during the comedic moments. WIth much consideration, the judges chose Sigma Phi as the first round winners.
The second section of the pageant show was an OOTD, or in familiar terms, an outfit of the day. The two hosts show off their outfits as an example, then call up one member from each fraternity to participate in showing off their current outfit. Many thrifted pieces and aesthetic outfits were shown off to the crowd and judges. The winner of the second round was Kappa Alpha.
Last but not least was the questionnaire section of Deepher Dude. Varying questions from “Why do you want to be crowned Deepher Dude 2025,” to “What conspiracy theory do you believe in and why,” were asked to each fraternity representative. Some wholesome answers, and others not so wholesome, filled the room with laughter.
Finally, the moment everyone was waiting for. The judges reveal there is a sudden winner after the round that will be crowned Deepher Dude 2025. With drumroll from the crowd, it was announced that Aidan Savitt ‘26 has won this year’s competition. He tells the audience how grateful he is, and how he’s been a participant for the last three years representing Chi Psi.
After the event, Concordiensis spoke to Emma Friedman ‘27, the mastermind behind planning both Deepher Dude 2025 and coordinating events for Delta Phi Epsilon’s CFF Week fundraising.
“Planning an Deepher Dude 2025 was both a meaningful and deeply enjoyable process. I loved meeting with the programming coordinators on a weekly basis to discuss our steps in arranging tabling sessions, the raffle baskets, t-shirt designs, and event decorations.”
Friedman continues on by explaining the importance of Deepher Dude and CFF Week to the Union community by saying, “this week of events takes the time to recognize those struggling and triumphing against cystic fibrosis and how those experiences differ among individuals.”
At the end of the week, Delta Phi Epsilon reached their fundraising goal of 10,000. All proceeds will be directly donated to The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
Deepher Dude 2025 did what it always does; brings laughter and the community togther for a greater cause. Congratulations to the winner and the runner ups from each Fraternity!
