Swimming & Diving team compete against Ithaca College

On February 2, the swimming and diving team celebrated senior day with a meet against Ithaca College. While both the men’s and women’s team lost, it did not prevent either team from having a successful meet.

The senior class had many strong performances as it was their last collegiate home dual meet. Anna Gagion ‘19 placed sixth on the women’s 1-meter board with a score of 220.80 and fourth on the 3-meter board with a score of 226.65. Cara McCarthy ’19 was second in the 1,000-yard freestyle, third in the 500-yard freestyle, and second in the 200-yard individual medley. She was also part of the 200-yard freestyle B relay that placed fourth and composed of Jaclyn Gehring ’20, Claire Hadelman ’20 and senior Emilee Nason ’19.

Emilee Nason ’19 took second in the 200-yard butterfly and fourth in the 100-yard butterfly. Closing out the women’s side, Jen Nutter ’19 had a very successful night. She was on the 200-yard medley relay, taking second place alongside teammates Elise Liebow ’22, Emily Quinn ’20 and Kerry Kelly ’20. Jen Nutter ’19 had her first collegiate win of her college career by winning the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:02.28 and placed third in the 50-yard freestyle.

Nate Hamer ’19 was on the 200-yard medley B relay that finished in 5th place with teammates Hunter Reinhardt ’21, Luis Angel ’20 and Jack Wassik ’19. Hamer ’19 also placed 5th in the 200-yard freestyle, 7th in the 200-yard individual medley and third in the 200-yard freestyle B relay with other seniors, Andrew Wojtowicz ’19, Tommy Han ’19 and Jack Wassik ’19.

Tommy Han ’19 started his night off with a second place finish in the 200-yard medley relay with freshmen Zach Cormier ’22, Brendan Egan ’22 and sophomore Tyler Mar ’21.Han ’19 also placed second in the 100- and 200-yard breaststroke. Jack Wassik ’19 took second in the men’s 1,000-yard freestyle and won the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:01.74.

Andrew Wojtowicz ’19 was fifth in the 50-yard freestyle, seventh, and sixth in the 100 yard butterfly.

Amanda Lopez and Davis Harrington ’21 led the way for the sophomore class. Amanda Lopez ’21 snagged a third-place finish on the 1-meter board with a score of 235.79 and fifth on 3-meter scoring 220.80. Davis Harrington ’21 once again won both diving events. He scored 342.69 on 3-meter and 305.10 on 1-meter.

The swimming and diving team will return to action on February 20-February 23 in Ithaca, New York for the Liberty League Championship.
