Union will host the Ice Breaker Tournament on October 17-18 at M&T Bank Center, featuring four Division I teams: Wisconsin, Vermont, Saint Anselm, and Union.
The two-day event opens Friday, October 17, with Wisconsin facing Vermont at 12:07 p.m. and Union taking on Saint Anselm at 3:37 p.m. Saturday’s schedule includes a consolation game at 12:07 p.m. and the championship at 3:37 p.m.
The Ice Breaker, organized by the HCA, signals the official start of the college hockey season and brings together some of the nation’s top teams. This year marks the first time Union has hosted the women’s edition of the tournament, an honor previously held by programs including Sacred Heart and Ohio State.
Head coach Josh Sciba emphasized that the tournament is “an incredible opportunity to test ourselves against some of the best programs in the country and showcase Union hockey on home ice.”
Fans can expect high-level competition and packed stands as the team looks to make a statement in front of national opponents.
