After two tough losses to start the season, Union football delivered a statement in its home opener, beating SUNY Morrisville 31-7 at Frank Bailey Field. The victory not only put the Garnet Chargers in the win column but also showed the kind of resilience and balance they’ll need moving forward.

Quarterback Patch Flanagan led the way with 132 passing yards and 139 on the ground, accounting for four touchdowns. Running back Michael Dinardo added 97 rushing yards as part of a 292-yard ground attack. On defense, Lucas Coleman anchored a unit that gave up just 174 total yards and completely shut out the Mustangs in the second half.

The difference came after halftime, where Union outscored Morrisville 17-0 and showed sharper execution on both sides of the ball. For a team that struggled with consistency early in the year, this performance suggests that the adjustments are paying off.

With St. Lawrence up next in the Liberty League opener, Union will look to build on this momentum. If they can replicate the second-half dominance they showed Saturday, the rough start could soon be a distant memory.
