On Friday, February 23, 2023, ACE hosted a Murder Mystery night. The event was centered around a murder mystery game where participants talked to one another and analyzed clues to determine who the murderer was. The game was a first-come first-serve event and was structured so that one could only attend the game from the beginning on.
The performers made the game enticing by engaging with the audience and attendees thoroughly enjoyed the challenges and twists of the game. The game started off with attendees talking to and identifying “suspicious behavior” of their fellow players, and then people were “murdered” in various different ways. The game was meant to be creative and fun through utilizing different props and tricks to lead a murder mystery adventure.
The event also served churros, shirley temples, mini hotdogs, and pretzels to ease the appetites of attendees. The participants enjoyed the challenge of the murder mystery and found it engaging to go around to investigate different people. To assist the attendees, the actors gave hints that helped to sway who the murder was as well. In the end, an old woman ended up being the killer.
ACE invited The Dinner Detective, a company that hosts murder mystery dinner shows throughout the US, to coordinate the event. The company hosts a 4 course dinner show in downtown Albany on Saturday nights and students can buy tickets on their website. ACE will also host a Game Night on March 3, 2024.
