On Friday, February 23, Wold House hosted a mocktail night like no other. Dubbed “Around the Wold,” this event, hosted by Wold, promised an evening of unlimited themed non-alcoholic concoctions inspired by classic alcoholic beverages from pina coladas to mint juleps and delightful non-alcoholic treats like masala chai.
The event began at 8 p.m., when students poured in (no pun intended), eagerly anticipating a night of revelry and camaraderie. The décor further added to the whimsical fun of it all, with bright silver streamers and balloons to pulsating music that set the rhythm for the night ahead. “It was really cool to see that they went all out! I love the drinks, such a fun event!” says Sarena Saggoo ’27. The ambiance was alive with energy, from the babble of students socializing to the rush inside the kitchen where the mocktails were being poured up.
The star of the show was the mocktails, of course. Attendees were treated to an array of meticulously crafted beverages, each designed to excite the taste buds and provide a journey through flavors around the world. The mocktails paid homage to iconic cocktails while incorporating unique twists and flavors. From the refreshing zest of the citrus-infused Moscow Mule, to the caramel notes of the Matcha Mint Julep and the warmth of the Masala Chai Martini, every sip offered a voyage of discovery.
But “Around the Wold” was more than just a showcase of inventive beverages; it was a celebration of community and connection, like many of the events hosted on campus. As friends mingled and laughter filled the air, the event served as a space for forging new bonds and strengthening existing ones. Highlighting non alcoholic beverages meant that all could partake in the festivities, regardless of their beverage preferences. By offering an enticing alternative to traditional alcoholic offerings, “Around the Wold” provided a space where everyone could join in the merriment without hesitation or exclusion.
As the evening drew to a close, the last mocktails were savored, and the blenders rendered dry, the resounding success of “Around the Wold” was evident. What began as a simple concept had blossomed into a memorable occasion, leaving a mark on all who attended. From the infectious energy to the delicious drinks, every element had combined to create an experience that transcended expectations. The event had certainly proven to be more than just a mocktail night– it was a toast to the power of community, creativity, and camaraderie. As attendees departed, they carried with them the lingering taste of the delicious drinks on their tongues, and the memories of the event in their hearts.
