The dance performance at Steinmetz Day was captivating and brought to life dancers for the first time on the stage since the ceremony was done in 2019. A variety of dances were featured that ranging from traditional Indian dance to Hip-Hop dance.

The show drew a very large crowd and had been prepped for months by dancers of all talents and backgrounds. Upon reflecting on the show, Adenike Hickson ‘22, who is part of the African Dance Club and a soloist, remarks that “I loved being involved in the Steinmetz Dance Performance this year because the last time I performed at Steinmetz in-person was during my first year of college in 2019. It definitely felt like a ‘full-circle’ moment and it was bittersweet one too.” 

“It has always been a pleasure to watch and experience the diverse choreographies that individuals and groups have worked so hard on,” Hickson continues. “I will forever be grateful for having the chance to perform twice at such an amazing and lively event.” 

The energy and enthusiasm that Hickson brought to the performance were

captivated both through her performance and charm on and off stage. Many of the dancers had been preparing for this moment for a long time and were excited to show off their talents on the big stage.

This includes Sage Elizabeth ‘25, who notes that “the Steinmetz Performance gave me the opportunity to show off the amazing dance department here at Union and how important the arts are to the education experience.” 

The performance was captivating and inspiring to watch for all. After three consecutive years of hosting Steinmetz Day online, the dance performance gave much-needed light to a school that values visual art. The event brought the power of dance and happiness to the entire campus community and was the first time many Union students experienced the magic of Steinmetz day.
