Bari Roberts ’21

Marcy Forti, Staff Writer

This week’s woman of the week is Bari Roberts ’21, nominated by Kate Osterholtz ’21 and Sophie Hurwitz ’21. Roberts is part of Delta Phi Epsilon, the Order of Omega President, and an Admissions Ambassador Coordinator.

Roberts’ nominations are as follows: “Bari is not only an incredible sister, but a great role model for people all over campus. She is steadfast in her beliefs and will always make time for those she cares about. This week, Bari spoke in the Identity Dialogues sharing her perspective as an Afro-Caribbean student and empowering others to speak their truth. Bari spends a lot of time uplifting others and deserves to be highlighted for the impact she has on this campus.”

She is an incredibly hardworking person who does a tremendous amount of work on campus. She is a part of numerous committees on campus, such as being one of the leaders of our ambassadors program, and a fantastic student. On top of all that she continuously looks out and makes time for her friends. She showers her friends in acts of kindness and truly makes people feel appreciated.  Overall, she really put her entire effort to better this campus and our community.”

Roberts states that her proudest accomplishments are “the work I’ve been doing with OIA (Office of Intercultural Affairs) and being an active student leader on campus.” In addition, she “was just recently recognized for that work as well as [her] work in admissions by being nominated to be a member of ODK the leadership society on campus.”

Roberts states “I only do work that I am passionate about which is why I am heavily involved in different aspects of Union. I am on the diversity liaison committee because I am passionate about the atmosphere that students experience when in the classroom. I am the President of the Order of Omega Greek Honor society because I am passionate about recognizing Greek student leaders for all their hard work throughout the year. Everything that I do on campus I am passionate about and I enjoy doing to the fullest!”

Roberts looks up to ” Christa Grant. She started working here at Union barely a year ago and has made so many changes that have made my experience attending Union all the better.” She also looks up to “Professor Theodosiou. I have only taken one class with her but she has taken the time to learn my interests and support me in any way that I need so that I can be successful.”

Being a woman at Union, to Roberts, means “just being me. If I am happy with who I am and I leave a memorable mark on this campus, that is all I need.”
