Quarantine Diaries: I hate that COVID-19 is a partisan thing now.

Name: Kaitlynn Blow
Connection to Union: Senior
What are the three things that have fundamentally changed in your life due to the pandemic?
Housing, Social Life and Employment
What are some new habits you have developed this term?
Spending way too much time on Tik Tok.
What made you smile today?
My boyfriend telling me good morning on discord
How has your relationship with Union changed/evolved this term?
Union has lost a lot of respect with how they handled kicking us off campus. One of my friends left her stuff there because they promised to store it in an email. Then after she was home (several states away) they announced that was no longer possible. It would’ve been less stressful for us if they didn’t do the wishy-washy stuff with sending us home. It just added to frustrations when they ignored their own deadlines and crushed what little hope they gave us seniors again and again.
What does an average day in your life look like these days?
I wake up at 9:30 in the tiny room I share with my fifteen year old sister. Often to the screams of my younger brothers (eight and six) fighting over Fortnite or Minecraft. Then I either do homework, have a shift at Sheetz or play videos games all day. Sometimes I play Animal Crossing with Union friends (and my bf) which is fun.
What are three things you’re grateful for right now?
The refund from school eased a lot of my financial anxiety and I was able to help my family out monetarily. Also, no one I personally know has gotten sick. I was also employed fairly quickly in an essential job because of the pandemic.
Is there anything else you would like to share with us?
I hate that COVID-19 is a partisan thing now. Like, its understandable to be worried about the economy while its also understandable to be worried about the pandemic still. I just don’t get why people have to be so aggressive about one side or the other when they’re all legitimate worries. Its just which one is more of a priority to you, personally. But, despite how legitimate worry for the economy is— I do not support the protests. So many of them are catching COVID-19 because they didn’t even take personal precautions.
