Poem : Invisible Enemy

The discomfort settling into our bones—

Is grief.

Because what we lost was too great.

It constricts us.

We suffer together even as

we suffer apart—

We all lost something together.

We lost the ability to comfort our loved ones.

Our enemy is invisible.

And a shroud of death could follow me

when I step into your home.

How heavy…

We struggle to breathe.

This disease weighs on us.

What a Surreal experience as we ask-

Am I “Essential”?

Will I stop breathing..?

Will a doctor decide that

I am not worth the resources

Because I had life left in me

But you gave up

And we all stopped breathing.
