Publishing Update: Letter from the Editors

Akriti Dhasmana and Daniel Wilcox

Dear reader,

As we finish the first week of classes in these times of significant change and stress for our community, we hope that everyone remains safe and healthy. The Concordiensis is Union’s student-run newspaper that has been documenting our history through stories written by and for the community since 1877. The Concordy has survived and persevered through times of war and peace, and despite this unprecedented situation, we will be ensuring that we remain active in the community. These are troubling times and this is the reason why it is imperative, now more than ever, to document the changes that we have all been through and will be experiencing throughout this term.  The dedicated staff of the Concordy will continue to document the stories of our community, even though we remain away from campus.

For the next few months, Concordiensis will introduce a few changes:

  1. Website: One of the benefits of living in the internet-age is the ability to connect with people all over the world. Concordiensis will not be publishing physical copies this term, and will instead be maintaining a robust online presence on our website. We will also be posting our articles on our various social media accounts: Facebook | Twitter
  1. Quarantine Diaries: Recognizing the importance of recording the experiences of Union students, staff and faculty members with the ongoing pandemic, we will also be introducing a new column under the Opinions section called the Quarantine Diaries. We are now accepting submissions for this column via email to this account: [email protected]. Submissions could range from written testimonies to commentary to prose or poems to actual diary entries. Please feel free to express in a way you feel most comfortable with! Please note that these submissions will be posted on our website and social media pages and no anonymous submissions will be accepted.
  1. UPics :We are introducing this new column to record in pictures of our lives away from campus. We will be accepting submissions of photographs documenting the day-to-day life of our readers during during the pandemic. All submissions can be emailed to this account: [email protected]. Please note that these submissions will be posted on our website and social media pages and no anonymous submissions will be accepted.

We understand that these are difficult times for us all but hopefully sharing our stories will allow us to stay connected with Union even while we’re away from each other and our beloved campus. We look forward to writing for you and with you in the coming weeks.

Wishing everyone luck and strength for this term,

Akriti Dhasmana and Daniel Wilcox,

Editors-in-Chief

(on behalf of the Concordy Staff)
