Women’s tennis concludes season in a mixed fashion

The Union Dutchwomen’s tennis team completed their 2018-2019 season with a series of matches against SUNY New Paltz last Tuesday night.The matches were held at Union College’s Courts and took place on Senior Night. Unfortunately, the match ended with a 7-2 score for New Paltz.

Union, with a 3-12 season, put up a good fight against New Paltz, having a 17-0 season, who entered 18 in the division III Northeast regional rankings just last week.

Megan Brown ’21 and Samantha Siegel ’21 both ended their sophomore seasons with victories against Laura Goob and Jenna Grandville of New Paltz.

Brown finished with a 6-2, 6-4 victory against Koob at second singles. Brown ended the year with a team personal best of 11 single wins.

Siegel completed her seventh single victory against Grandville with a double 6-3 victory.

This final match concluded the careers of seniors Alex Greenberg ’19, Sydney Robison ’19 and Paige Webster ’19.

Webster is graduating with a team record of 39 personal wins, the most completed in the previous 10 years of the Dutchwomen’s tennis team history. The team expressed that they are extremely proud of the accomplishments of their senior teammates. They wish them good fortune in their future endeavours and remember all the times they had together as teammates.
