Track team compete in Boston for Valentine Invitational

This weekend the Men’s and Women’s indoor track teams competed in the David Hemery Invite and Colgate University Class of ’32 Invitational.

In Boston, the Dutchmen’s distance medley relay team qualified for the Atlantic Regional Championships during the Boston University David Hemery Valentine Invitational.

The relay team made up of David Bates ’21, Colin Keally ’20, Will Fisher ’19 and Arden Kellner ’19 clocked in a time of 10:30.35, which allows them to compete at the regional meet on March 2-3. Bates led off the 1200-meter leg with a five-second personal best of 3:11.338. Keally ran 51.944 in the 400m leg. Fisher clocked in at 1:59.466 for 800m, while Kellner anchored the 1600m in 4:27.599.

On the second day of competition the men competed in individual events. In the 800m, Bates (1:58.80), Keally (1:59.42), Fisher (1:59.10), and Matt Roizin-Prior ’21 (2:11.0) all recorded person bests. Nick O’Toole ’22 (2:02.95) and Phil Facey ’22 (2:03.30) also ran season bests in the 800m. Bates and Kelly also ran personal bests in the 500m, with times of 1:08.83 and 1:08.73. Facey clocked in a season best in the 1km with a time of 2:43.52, while Kellner also put up a season best in the mile with a time of 4:26.88.

Phil Brown ’20 also had a strong showing for the Dutchmen in the 200m and 400m, with times of 23.42 and 53.05.

The Dutchmen also competed at Colgate’s Class of 1932 Invitational. Dante Scott ’21 got a personal best in the long jump (6.57m) and season best in the triple jump (13.08m).

Pat Glennon ’20 got a season best in the triple jump (12.03m). Jonathan Caputo ’21 got a personal best in the mile (4:56.91).

The Dutchwomen brought four girls to Boston.

Kaitlin Close ’19 recorded a season best in the 800m with a time of 2:23.14

The Dutchwomen also competed at Colgate’s Class of 1932 Invitational.

Dayna Young ’20 recorded a new personal best in the 1Km with a time of 3:15.82

McKenna Palczak ’19 had a season best in the long jump (4.1m) and ran a personal best time in the 60m dash with a time of 5.50.

Abby Valachovic ’20 who was the highlight of the meet at Hamilton, she recorded a personal best in the mile with a time of 5:50.98

Palczak, Young, Amanda Ashmen ’21, and Samantha Miller ’19 competed in the distance medley relay on in the beginning of the competition. All four girls recorded a time of 13:30.28 in relay event

Alexandra Minuto ’22 got a personal best in the high jump, jumping 4’5” and Annie Gee ’22 got a season best in the triple jump, jumping 32’5”.75 ft.

Both teams return to competition February 16, 2019 at the RIT Last Chance Meet.
