Women’s Soccer beat Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute 1-0

On Saturday, October 5, 2019, the Women’s Soccer Team played against Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) at College Park Field. Fiona Zimmerman ’22 scored her first goal for Union College in the 93rd minute, and that goal helped the Dutchwomen win their Liberty League game against the Puckwomen.

For their Liberty League game, Union beat RPI 1-0. The first half of the game, Union had six shots, one save and one foul. RPI had two shots, three saves and three fouls. In the second half, however, RPI increased their number of shots to three, while Union had five shots against RPI. The game between both teams was consistently even, resulting in playing overtime and Union scoring the first goal of the game during the first half of overtime. Midfielder Mollie Boone ’23 had two shots on goal while midfielder Bella Dworkin ’22 attained three shots on goal and forward Linsey Giles ’20 attained one shot on goal. Lastly, goalkeeper Alison Sorkeen ’21 made five saves, recording her fifth win and third shutout of the season.
