The 2019 NCAA Division III Men’s Lacrosse Championship Tournament began May 7 and the championship will be held on May 26.

The tournament started with the top 36 teams in all of division III lacrosse. So far only two rounds of the tournamnet have been completed yet there have been numerous exciting moments and stunning upsets.

After three rounds of play there are eight teams left in the competition. These teams are: Tufts University, Amherst College, Salisbury University, Denison University, Williams College, Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), Cabrini University, and York College in Pennsylvania.

The matchups are as follows: Tufts v. Amherst; RIT vs. Williams; Cabrini vs. York; and Salisbury vs. Denison. After these games on Thursday, May 16, four teams will advance into the semifinals and compete for a coveted spot in the NCAA Championship game.

Despite all teams posting impressive win-loss records, Tuft’s impressive regular season and playoff play have made them the favorites of many fans and sports analysts.

Unfortantely, Union College’s tenure in the tournament came to a decisive end after loosing to Liberty League Conference rival RIT. This marked the end of an impressive season for the Dutchmen as they even made it into the second round of the tournament after handily defeating SUNY Cortkand in the first round of play.

RIT marks the soul remaining Liberty League college or University in the bracket. However, fellow North eastern Conference the NESCAC has three remaining schools in the tournament: Williams, Tufts and Amherst.

The other teams range from Pennsylvania to Ohio, as all regions of the country are represented in the tournament.
